The Real Facts About The Truth
By Karen Foster

It is a sure thing that nobody likes to hear the truth. It is unimaginative, can not be sugar coated and is most importantly of all - the most hurtful thing known to mankind. Yet the truth sets us free to be who we really are if we are able to grab hold of it; embrace it; utilise it wisely and confront it bravely. Many fall at the first hurdle and succumb to not being able to look ‘The truth’ in the eye, fearing that reality (their reality) is not really what they thought it was ?  Hiding behind two faces only to smile falsely at what they believe to be the easiest option, understanding that this is what people really want to hear and how to make themselves look good. The truth is tactless and cruel, but it is the most solid foundation of all for which can be built upon … and it formats the most precious ideal of all, that of pure unadulterated honesty, to themselves and to others in close contact.

The drawback is seeing it through; communicating tactfully and to gently persuade others to shed their alien skin. To show themselves as they really are on a day to day basis, standing up against adversity and maintaining a proud significance means being crucified every step of the way…it is not what is expectable to society and those who have decided to enforce it as a way of living are shunned in disgust – How dare they speak their minds! For every one person who speaks the truth there are ten people who hide behind the truth, criticising and back-stabbing the sheer unacceptable daringness of someone who is confronting the situation head on.

This is typically classed as a no win situation.

The consequences on both sides can not be dismissed. We have not really been able to balance anything and have resulted only in a duel negativity, which produces heartache and suffering one hidden … one open. What one person classes as immoral deceit is another person’s way of ‘normal living’ and the truth does not always set us free. Everybody thinks they know better and that what is obvious on the outside is not often obvious on the inside – to those it is directed at anyway.

Truth or non Truth is therefore part of the problem, which induces selfishness. Selfishness exists to everyone who lives and breathes on this planet, whether we like it or not. Even those who disbelieve such a statement are prone to selfishness in one form or another, it is only when we acknowledge this ‘blot on the landscape’ that we realise this default and except that we are not as perfect as we thought we were. Mankind is not perfect and never will be and until we understand this we will always fight; blame others for our misfortunes and spread negativity like an airborne virus.

So at the end of the day who is to judge anyone? The truth that is prominent to one person may work against another’s, but who is to say who is right and wrong?

We all have to pay consequences for our actions because this is called Karma, what we throw out is returned and sometimes quicker than expected. The thing that no one can definitely appreciate is the personal pain of someone else’s consequences – hidden or otherwise.

It is just this that I have come to understand that external suffering is based on two vital commodities: If you dare to speak the truth and feel justifcation from this, you are prone to the disapproving blinding unforgivable hypocrisy with which the world laughs at you from all angles except the one starring you right in the face. However, if you are open to the cruel intentions human nature can deal upon you when fully aware of the true evil that denotes realisation that the truth is not so good ... you are left feeling that the world has let you down badly.

My final thought: Either way mankind still has a lot to learn and our faith to overcome such ignorance will be a long time coming. But we still do exist and maybe one day a compromise will emerge for a second chance to understand the true needs of others…in an ideal way that would please everyone.

…. and as for the truth? Well I don’t think this will ever be understood not for what we believe it to be anyway. If there are any answers then I’m afraid to say they are not all black and white but various shades of grey, and it is up to the individual to determine just what shade of grey?
