Each year, astrologers all over the world look at the upcoming aspects for the year ahead. This is out busiest time of year with clients calling for their yearly update. Here are what I feel are the three biggest astrological transits for 2008.
Jupiter’s transit in the sign of Capricorn
This aspect actually started on December 18, 2007 and runs through January 5, 2009. Many of you born under the sign of the Goat will have a year filled with blessings and opportunities, good health and wealth. Big businesses, organizations and corporations (which are ruled by Capricorn) will also grow. Cancer-born folks will have extra luck in partnerships and relationships. Jupiter is sometimes called the “Santa Claus” of our cosmic forces. Wherever an individual has Capricorn in their natal chart, they can expect to see growth, expansion and good fortune in 2008.
Pluto in Capricorn
The planet Pluto, rules death and regeneration. It will move into the sign of Capricorn (January 27, 2008) causing transformational aspects to people, companies and countries with Capricorn and Cancer influence. Pluto will be in Capricorn for many years to come so its effects are slow moving but serious The United States is a Cancer country (July 4th 1776). Old, worn out ideas will need to change in order for the U.S. to thrive and grow. President Bush is also a Cancer, born in July so he may face new power struggles, perhaps with more world leaders and countries than in previous years. Many Capricorn folks will be making major decisions about their directions in life. Cancer-born will be facing changes and some challenges with relationships. There will be many endings and yet many new beginnings as the visits of Pluto and Jupiter will work to transform. This transit will affect all of us. Wherever you have Capricorn in your natal chart is where you can expect to see long term change that is necessary. You may also experience power struggles in this area during the Pluto transit. But rather than looking at the situation from a defensive approach, look at it from a spiritual one; change is needed for your highest good. You may not see it now, but you will in time to come.
Saturn in Virgo
Saturn, which is said to be the lord of karma, the taskmaster and one of our greatest teachers, has been planted in the sign of Virgo since September 2007. It will continue its trek deeper into this sign until late July 2010 although there will be a period from late October 2009 - April 2010, when it will be in Libra. Saturn in Virgo will challenge those born in late August and September and help them “firm” up their lives. Since Virgo also rules the health industry, we could see sweeping and necessary changes long overdue in health and related industries. There already is a health insurance crisis in our country. Wherever Saturn is transiting in an individual’s chart is where he/she will need to work hard and be willing to make necessary changes. Saturn will indeed test you and make you stronger but he also will leave a “gift” at your door after his visit is complete. So rest assured, there will be some sort of reward coming to you for all of your hard work.
I would also like to share the numerological interpretation of 2008. When you reduce the new year down to a single digit as such 2+0+0+8, you get the number 10.Then you reduce 10 down as well; 1+0 = 1. So 2008 is a Number One Year. Therefore, many of us can expect new beginnings of all kinds. The energy of the New Year is about letting the past go to allowing new, fresh, bright ideas and concepts to come in. Anything “new” you encounter may have a very positive influence in your life. Think of the things you would like to do and go after them. New relationships, creations, innovative ideas, employment, a new home, etc. all fall under this energy of the Number One Year. However, for every positive element, there is usually a negative side to it. The Number One cycle also could cause a selfishness in some situations; a “What’s In It for Me?” attitude. Be careful of this. Make sure you balance your needs and wants with those of others.
