The Justice Card: A Lesson in Balance
By Ashleigh Stewart Ghabi B.Msc

The Tarot card of Justice brings forth to our attention the principle and importance of balance. The theme of balance is predominant throughout the Tarot and with that it touches upon the many aspects of our consciousness and being. However, in this instance the Justice card is concerned with the unique power of the human rational mind in its consciousness and in particular, a balanced intellect.

Working with the energy of the Justice card requires that we incorporate balance, fairness and impartial judgment into our own life experiences. If you are unsure of where you fit in regard to this try to consider how your own mind functions by asking yourself these questions.
How do you think?
Is it easy for you to be objective or do you always view life subjectively?
When you make a decision is your decision based on your logical reasoning or are you influenced only by your emotions?
Are you influenced by personal desire?

When dealing with the many challenges which life presents before us, we often tend to evaluate situations from a self - centered and bias view of things. What Justice teaches us is that in order to be able to achieve a well balanced mind and personality to deal with all our life experiences which involve other people fairly, is that we rid ourselves of our own preconceptions and prejudices. We must allow ourselves to begin looking at the whole picture of what is happening by considering what it is like from the perspective of the other people involved. By handling things this way, we are able to be fully aware of all that is going on, thus making it easier to understand whatever it is we are to learn from the experience in full.

On that note, I would like to bring to your attention the essence of the Justice card from a perspective of numerology. According to the numeric order of the Tarot, this card is the Key 11. When we reduce this number to one digit it becomes 2. For example, 1+1=2. The number 2 is governed by the female energy of feeling and receptivity. Its basic key principle here is in co-operation with others and handling all relationships with openness, kindness, consideration and sensitivity. In short, the 2 vibration requires that we be dual in nature, seeing both sides of any situation we are faced with. As you can see, the energy of this number relates very nicely to the principles presented by the Justice card.

My advice to you in this respect is that you begin learning to use your own awareness before actively responding to any of the experiences you encounter in your life. Awareness in this sense is a wonderful tool and it is one of which we all do possess. However, the power which comes from being 'aware' goes by too often unrealized by many of us because we tend to act and react to situations according to what our instincts our emotional judgments tell us. Using your awareness effectively requires that that you learn how to emotionally detach from the circumstances which are surrounding you. When you are able to do this, you will then be able to evaluate what is going on from a clear, calm and objective perspective.

In the end the importance of any experience you go through in your life is the lesson which lies behind it. Those lessons are our tools in life as they can bring us all the knowledge, wisdom and awareness we need to grow into being wiser and more conscious human beings. It is unfortunate that many of us cut ourselves off from this aspect of growth in our lives. This happens when we are not able to understand and handle our experiences properly. This will only ever result in us being caught up in stagnation and there is no room to grow when we are stagnating!

There is so much to gain when we allow ourselves to accept all factors which occur in the experiences we encounter. They all come into our lives for a reason, and that is not to make us feel sad or miserable but to help us grow and evolve. In the end our worst experiences are in fact our best assets because when handled properly, they do in fact provide us with more opportunities of gaining wisdom and awareness. When you are faced with difficulties in your life, try to consider this. It helps to keep you motivated and inspired!

After all, the lesson here is simply in learning to see the whole equation of your experiences and to accept life from all angles. Try not to stagnate in the same old limited attitudes of pride, prejudice ego, self-centeredness and by being driven by your ego because in the end, you are the only one who loses the growth that can be achieved from being a completely aware human being with a balanced mind.

I wish you all love, peace and a light that shines on your path through life!
