Why choice of colours by clothes designers changes from one year to another? To my un-intelligent mind, there is so far no convincing reason or explanation given by any experts. My feng shui research however tells me that it is affected by the two-decade and also yearly reigning stars.
The present two-decade star favours colours such as crimson, gold, silver and white. Therefore, colours such as silver, sand, gold, chestnut, crimson, and white, etc., applied to things such as cars, clothing, hand-bags, shoes, to name but a few have been quite popular for the past twenty years or more. You can see many M-Benz, Honda Accura, etc., are in silver colours. The Toyota Camry favours golden or sand colours. They are among some of the best selling cars. For GM Oldsmobile, I could not see many cars with the said dominant colours and sadly Oldsmobile will be out of production.
The popularity of colour in any year is affected by the yearly reigning star.
Take for instance year 2000, purple was a dominating colour. Other colours having influence on us were bright red, orange, and a host of other colours with at least 50 percent mix from either one or more of the colours just mentioned. In that year, I noticed that many women clothing was in purple colour.
In the year 2001, white, grey, white rosy, white almond, light chocolate, and even yellow, lemon yellow, citron yellow, etc were dominant colours. So you can see many VW beetles were painted in yellow, citron yellow, or lemon yellow.
In the year 2002, crimson, chestnut, gold, sand, silver and white, are the dominant colours. In this year, you can find a lot of things with such colours. For example, GM cars painted with colours such as chestnut, crimson, gold, sand, egg-shell, silver and white are more saleable.
In the year 2003, gold, sand, silver, egg-shell and white will be the dominant colours.
In the year 2004, yellow, cream, primrose yellow, egg-shell yellow, lemon yellow, citron yellow will be the dominant colours.
For the future twenty years starting from 2004, the dominant colours influenced by the two-decade star will be yellow, white, chocolate, almond, etc. The dominant colours can be mixed with any colours not mentioned here but the dominant colour will have at least 50 percent ingredient in the mix. As mentioned, yearly star will influence our choice of colours.
We now come to shapes. Like colour, our choice of shapes very much depends on the influence of the stars. Each reigning star belongs to one of the five elements, namely, wood, fire, metal, earth and water.
For wood element, any tall, rectangular features such as high rise buildings, tall window, high ceilings, vertical lines and columns.
For fire element, triangles, pointed shapes, stars and pyramids such as pointed roofs, spires and triangular windows.
For metal element, round spherical, domed or arched features such as candle stick building, domed roofs, round windows and arched doorways.
For earth element, square, low, wide rectangular features such as wide windows, horizontal lines and low ceilings.
For water element, irregular, wavy and curved features such as wavy shape buildings, bay windows and curved staircases.
The present two-decade star favours round shape or a series of round or curve shape. Therefore it is no wonder to see buildings with domed or arched shape, candle stick shape for example the twin towers built in Kuala Lumpur, etc.
Yearly star also affects our thinking.
In year 2000, the triangular or spike shape was the dominant shape. The triangular shape can be extended to front door, window, etc.
In year 2001, the star affected our thinking was an earth star. Therefore, low, wide rectangular features prevailed. You can notice that some cars unveiled in that year were more in box shape. The once famous "mini" car is in box shape plus the edges are in round/curve shape.
In 2002, the round or curve shape dominates. Therefore, arched windows, arched door, or arched doorways are popular. The round or curve shape will extend to 2003.
In 2004, the square and wide rectangular shape will dominate. The arched window or arched doorway will come back to rectangular shape.
In 2005, the tall rectangular shape will dominate. The star is a wood star and therefore the features of wood element mentioned earlier on will prevail.
The future twenty years will have square and wide rectangular shape as the dominant shape, to be followed by the pyramid, spiked shape. Without doubt, yearly star influences our choice of shape in any particular year. A mix of shape is often found because the twenty year stars and the yearly stars will influence our choice.
